Moving into The Clarendon.
A move into residential care is a significant step. We've been taking families through it for nearly thirty years — and we try to keep it simple, honest, and paced around the family. Never rushed. Never sold.
Five steps, plainly.
- 1
Get in touch
A quick call or email is enough to start. Tell us a little about the person who might move in, and when you'd ideally like care to begin. There's no pressure at this point — and no pitch.
- 2
Visit the home
Come and walk round at a time that suits. Morning, lunchtime, afternoon — all are welcome. Meet the staff on shift; sit in the courtyard; ask anything at all. If the home doesn't feel right, we'll say so honestly.
- 3
Needs assessment
If you'd like to take things further, we carry out a full assessment of the resident's needs. We talk to them, to family, and to any professionals already involved — so the care plan fits the person, not the paperwork.
- 4
Agree the plan
We agree a care plan and funding arrangements together, written down plainly, so everyone knows where they stand from day one. We quote fees in writing — no small print, no surprises.
- 5
Move in, settle in
We keep move-in days gentle. Staff have read the care plan before arrival; favourite foods are on the menu; we've done the small things that help a room feel like a resident's own.
Fees & funding
Fees depend on the room chosen and the level of support required. We always quote in writing, without obligation. Portsmouth City Council funded placements are welcome where we can meet the assessed needs.
